i also know Joomla quite well, i have also used it for several jobs since its first release, many years ago.Softaculous doesn't look at requirements it assumes you know what you are doing. No body here would recommend using softaculous on a live site . You will notice that you are unable to update j5 via Joomla update with the softaculous install. Much better not to use it for your sanity.
It's just that i haven't used it for a long time.
Generally use Softaculous for on-the-fly installations, just to do quick tests of some features, i know how to install such software
